The Orbit Slinger app icon: Sol, a smiling little sun, flicking an Earth along a glowing trail.

Fling worlds.Tame gravity.

Throw planets past a star and keep every one of them in orbit. Too soft and it falls in, too hard and it flies away. A physics game for iPhone and iPad, with a friendly little sun to show you how.

It's all in the flick

Grab a planet, swipe it sideways past the star and let go. The game does the rest with real gravity, the same way the Moon stays up.

  • Too softIt spirals in and becomes a star snack.
  • Just rightIt swings all the way round. The rounder the orbit, the more points.
  • Too hardIt zooms off into the dark and doesn't come back.

Try it here. This is a tiny version of the game's physics: one star, no goals, as many throws as you like.

Grab anywhere, flick sideways past Sol, let go.

More than a toss

Ten-level campaigns around four very different stars, two ways to score, and a replay of every close call.

Replays you can keep and save

Every level is recorded. Afterwards, watch it again: fast between moments, slow motion through the near misses and crashes, with a timeline to jump anywhere.

  • Keep your favorites in the in-game Album.
  • Save any replay to Photos as a video in seconds.
  • Sharing asks a grown-up first. A grown-up can switch that off.

Real planets, real science

Earth, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter and the Moon are drawn from real spacecraft maps, lit by the star and spinning. Tap any planet, or the star, and the camera flies in.

Fun facts come first: how many times it's gone around, how long its year is, its closest shave. Tap More for real stats from NASA fact sheets and your orbit in real units.

A close-up of Jupiter with its fact card: it has circled the star three times, and a year there lasts 2.3 seconds.

Orbit Lab: a real gravity sandbox

Place stars, planets and moons with real mass ratios, and watch everything pull on everything else. Start from classics like three stars chasing each other round a figure-eight, a Tatooine world around two suns, or Jupiter's Trojan asteroids. No goals, no score.

Orbit Lab is a separate one-time purchase.

Clockwork or Chaos

Score with perfect circles and lanes that never cross, or with hair's-breadth near misses, slingshots and cosmic billiards. Every win earns a style badge.

Made for iPad too

Every screen is laid out for the bigger display, in portrait or landscape. Great for small hands.

Daily Challenge

One new level a day, the same for everyone in the world, with its own Game Center leaderboard.

Meet Sol

Sol is a cheerful little sun who explains each new idea the first time it happens, in short voiced tips. Pick one of three voices, rewatch any tip in Settings, or turn tips off.

These are the real clips from the game. They start muted; turn the sound on in the player. Every tip is captioned, in the game and here.

Hi! I'm Sol, your friendly star! Let's sling some planets into orbit!

Four stars to tame
